When does MÖRKTOBER start?

MÖRKTOBER starts on October 1 and continues through October 31 each year. The prompts are released ahead of time, but you should wait until MÖRKTOBER starts. MÖRKTOBER uses Central European Summer Time (CEST) for start/end times.

What do we do when it starts?

Each day in October, use the daily prompt to make something for MÖRK BORG. It could be a little text description, some art, or something more complicated. Weapons, classes, items, dungeon things, scrolls, monsters, or anything else is fair game.

How do I get started with MÖRK BORG?

The MÖRK BORG Third-Party License allows for the creation of compatible content. Check out Compatible with MÖRK BORG and Compatible with CY_BORG for tips on getting started.

Do I have to make something every day?

There is no registration or formal process for MÖRKTOBER. Make things when you feel like it, and don’t worry about missing some days. It’s a creative writing (or art) exercise, so use it the way you feel is best for you.

It’s also OK to not post every day! Some people just post a few times a week if that works better for their work/life schedule.

How do I share my creations?

If you’d like to share what you made, post it to social media with tagged #MÖRKTOBER. You can also share in the #MÖRKTOBER channel on the MÖRK BORG Discord server. Some people do post compilations on itch.io, but it is not required and just personal preference.

Can I sell or crowdfund things based on the prompts?

Sure! Feel free to do whatever you want with your creations based on the prompts. Please follow the terms and conditions in the MÖRK BORG Third-Party License. Also, please include the following text: “"[Product name] is an independent production by [Author or Publisher] and is not affiliated with Exeunt Press."

I’d ask that you not use the stylized MÖRKTOBER logo.
